Making waves
Here, ripple-textured tiles backdrop a freestanding tub, stand-out black double vanity and shower, while custom mirrors reflect the drama
Designed by Emma Morris, Eternodesign
From the master suite designer:
Given the steep location and close proximity of neighbouring houses we had our work cut out for us as designers of a full interior fit out for this newly retired couple’s architectural build.
Two bespoke, bevelled edged, vertical mirrors accentuate the verticality of the bathroom in a pared-back space that belies some of the more complicated aspects of design.
A bold collaboration sees a bespoke vanity with Nero Ingo Fenix paired with a Iron Frost Neolith mitred benchtop and subtly textured ripple tiles to contrast with large, soft grey porcelain tiles.

Drawers below provide additional storage and concealed power points to ensure the benchtops have clean, uncluttered lines.
Well executed lighting brings a refined elegance to this interior space – including subtle recessed led lights in the shower shampoo alcove and below the vanity.
Lighting also adds drama to the shower by appearing to wash down the natural, porcelain, tactile ripple wall tiles.
And the same rippled tiles make the perfect backdrop to both the freestanding Niagara Belle bath and the double vanities.
The tub's matt black, wall mounted bath spout matches the taps positioned centrally over the vanities.
We chose the vertical heated towel rails to blend into the design and create a more sculptural effect – towel hooks are positioned beside the bath.
Behind the bath, the wall becomes a piece of art in itself, adding a lovely depth reflected in the mirror.
Black shutters, strategically installed prior to the plumbed bath, give privacy while taking in the mesmerising view.
Close collaboration with the builder, tiler and trades were imperative throughout the project, to ensure the shower fittings and wall-mounted taps were selected and considered early in the design.
The tile layout was achieved with close collaboration between designer and artisan to ensure attention to detail so the ripple tiles, mitred edges and larger format Ashima tiles all flowed seamlessly.
