Winner
2025 TIDA International Bathroom of the Year
Suede + Stone – Auckland
In the renovation of this ensuite, the full-height glass walls were retained, with the native bush and established gardens providing screening and privacy between the pavilions.
The redesign creates distinct zones for the various daily rituals of bathing, with separate areas for toilet, vanity, shower and bath.
While there is an overarching feeling of openness, two concessions to privacy were made – a linen curtain that can be pulled around the bath when in use, and a reeded glass door for the toilet enclosure.

Soft curves and bullnose edges feature throughout, tying together the custom details and giving the space an organic ambience.
An intentionally contrasting detail is the custom aluminum shower screen, which frames the circular bath at the focal point of the room, and replicates the arch door into the ensuite.

In this creation of a powder room, the designer needed to work within the footprint of an existing bathroomm and retain the shower area as a more accessible space if needed in the future.
The space has been divided into three distinct functional zones – shower, toilet and vanity – with reeded glass panels separating these areas.
With no external walls, the room’s only natural light was from a skylight, so the glass panels also help keep the space light and bright throughout.
