In this dual focus project, a light-filled ensuite with curvaceous elements creates a refined parents sanctuary while a new walk-in-robe seamlessly doubles as a study space

Designed by Katie Scott, Sticks+Stones Design

From the designer:

Designed for a busy family of four, these homeowners wanted their ensuite to be a 'parents sanctuary'.

They also requested a walk-in wardrobe space.

Their existing master bedroom did not have a walk-in wardrobe, nor was there sufficient space to create one, so we pushed through into an existing study room located behind the bedroom.

This created a perfect new space for a walk-in wardrobe.

We also built in a desk so that it could be retained as a study, making the room multi-use and keeping the window with a lovely outlook over the garden.

The black wardrobe cabinetry complements the aesthetics of the other areas of the house, including the black kitchen.

The full-height wardrobe doors, which hide the hanging space and drawers, make the space feel tidy and more like a study space when in use.

One of these cupboards is used for a printer and work storage.

The ensuite bathroom is designed as a sanctuary for the professional couple.

The palette is soft and natural, creating a lovely warmth and calmness in the space.

We also softened the entry by curving the end of the his-and-hers vanity and the wall on the left-hand side, which helps to create a welcoming flow and natural movement into the space.

The large, round bathtub is a prominent feature of the bathroom, creating a luxurious, spa-like feel.

The half-wall between the bathtub and shower is the ideal space to rest a book, a cup, or a glass.

The tall, built-in storage unit has ample room (as requested by the owner) and also serves to conceal the toilet from view.

From the bedroom, there are two doors – one to the ensuite oasis, the other to the walk-in wardrobe.
