Well connected
With strong material elements indoors and out – think board formed concrete walls and a hot rolled steel interior feature – this home also celebrates blending indoor and outdoor living, courtesy of giant stacking doors
Designed by Michael Cooper Architects
From the architect:
The owners envisioned a contemporary luxury family home that combined sleek finishes with comfortable and functional living spaces.
Key requirements included an open-plan layout that creates connectivity for the family and a strong emphasis on outdoor living.
Their vision was to create inviting spaces where family could gather and enjoy time together – ultimately the design needed to reflect their lifestyle while also offering areas for relaxation and serenity.
Outdoor living was particularly important to the owners, as they envisioned a vibrant space, including a pool, gardens, a cosy fireplace and putting green for family fun.
This emphasis on outdoor leisure drove many design decisions and led to the concept of blending indoor and outdoor areas.
To achieve this, large glass sliding doors were used in the design to create that transition between indoors and out and enhance the natural light in the indoor living spaces, maximising the sense of space throughout the ground floor.
To complement the luxurious and functional aesthetic of the interior feature of hot rolled steel, the exterior of the home featured formed concrete walls contrasted by Abodo cladding.
