Tile choices evoke upmarket hotel vibe

From the designer:

Our brief was to transform our homeowner’s ensuite into a luxurious “hotel style” bathroom with generous storage space.

The room has a long narrow section, previously housing the toilet.

I redesigned the layout of the space to create a large walk in shower in this section.

A ceiling mounted rain shower head and a slide shower, on separate mixers, provide flexible showering options.

A tiled niche for storing essential shower items is well positioned at the end of the shower.

The tiled shower floor subtly slopes towards a tiled channel drain at the far end of the shower.

A generous double vanity with drawers and an open shelving unit provide great storage.

Additional storage is set behind two custom recessed mirror cabinets with built in LED lighting around the perimeter of the mirrors, which provide excellent task lighting.

A combination of dark and silver tiles, ceiling to floor, create the ambience and feel our homeowner requested.

The subway sized tiles on the vanity wall are a matt black texture, while the floor and walls have dark, moody tiles with a lighter silver contrast tile on the adjacent walls.

The tapware selected is in brushed brass, which will patina over time.

The glow of the tapware provides a luxurious pop of warmth against the dark tiles and this warmth of colour also comes through in the Caesarstone Vanilla Noir vanity top.

The final result is a sleek, modern ensuite bathroom with a luxurious walk in shower and practical storage.
