High-impact interior
With its marble-patterned porcelain tiles and cantilevered wood-veneer vanity, this family bathroom makes a big statement
Designing a more spacious bathroom when you can't physically enlarge a space calls for creative thinking.
The solution for this project was to remove an existing bathtub and to work with a limited palette of materials that were chosen to enhance a spacious feel.

The bathroom, which was part of a major makeover designed by architect Ria Pepper, is lined with I Bianchi Di Rex Paonazzetto porcelain tiles. These have a distinctive marble-look pattern that complement the predominantly black-and-white colour scheme evident throughout the rest of the house.
A dark-stained American white oak veneer vanity with an Antique Brown leathered granite top is cantilevered from the wall to reinforce the sense of space. The flush, sleek lines of the cabinet also avoid a busy, cluttered look. Additional storage is provided behind the mirrored panels.
A glass-walled shower box further enhances the open, airy feel of the room.
The owners say the family bathroom has two doors one opens to a passage, while the other opens directly to one of the bedrooms, effectively forming a suite.
