What began as a few initial meetings to discuss my owners' ideas on their interiors, became a complete top-to-bottom design project for each space in their home. From the start, they mentioned they loved colour and wanted to add pops of bold colours throughout the home. For the main bathroom, I wanted to add cohesion between this space and the beautiful powder room. This brings a visual link between the entrance of the home and the left wing where the children’s bedrooms, bathroom and rumpus room are. Being set in the lush greenery of Oratia, I chose colours that add to the scenic backdrop rather than distracted from it.Bringing the colours found on their doorstep into their home was key in creating a designer home that would look the part for many years to come.I started with the beautiful Majorca green tiles from Quantum Flooring to bring the bold and moody colour into their powder room. The larger subway version of this worked well with the main bathroom and the larger size of the space. They were installed in vertical stack to add to the visual height of the bathroom. I paired these with the Nativa tiles from Quantum and selected the walnut timber vanity from Plumbline to bring together a lux colour scheme that didn’t contrast but rather complemented each element and brought the different textures together in harmony. For the tapware and shower fittings, we went with the ABI Gunmetal finish. This added another layer of dark, moody colour and really marries well with the basin on the vanity. The way the tapware brings out the dark details in the tile was a nice surprise, too.
