No windows? No Problem! A starry ceiling finish, accent lighting and a luxurious shower experience all feature in this spare bedroom turned master ensuite

Designed by Elliot Johnson, EJ Building

From the designer:

Owner requests:

  • To convert a spare bedroom into a master ensuite.
  • If possible to use some of the bedroom space to create a laundry.
  • To create a dark space with no windows.
  • A walk in shower, preferably with no glass.

What we achieved:

Bathroom
  • We created a large shower with continuous recessed shelves running either side of shower (running length of room) – this was built and set up to be two tiles in height.
  • The ceiling was painted in a dark charcoal colour with a layer of Dulux Diamond Design Glitter Effect Paint added to give the ceiling a star twinkle effect.
  • A tile insert channel drain was positioned at the head of the shower.
  • Plastered in ceiling extractor inlets were used as a discrete option.
  • Body jets were added and controlled via two shower mixers to optimise water pressure.
  • The toilet and bidet were added and positioned behind the door to keep the location discrete.
