Stark contrast
Heavily veined Volakas marble tiles are used for flooring, walls and even the vanity top in this luxurious bathroom
Having a large space to work with enables designers and homeowners to be a little more indulgent.
IMA Interiors managing director Isabelle Miaja says the bathroom in this home was large enough for two showers, a two-basin vanity top and a large bath.
"The large space, light marble and Philippe Starck-designed bath and fittings dictated the look, which is modern and stark. We used bare Tasmanian oak for the vanity cabinetry to add a sense of warmth to this bathroom.

"The size of the room enabled us to use a chunky, contemporary bath and vanity."
Accessories such as the maroon towels add vibrant colour to the interior. With this design, the homeowners can change the look or theme by exchanging the towels for another colour.
The black, white and maroon colour scheme is used in the neighbouring bedrooms, where the oak is laid on the floor.
Miaja says both the marble and oak are ideal for the tropical conditions of the home's location.
