Same layout, transformed feel
The old is swept aside, for this contemporary master ensuite, with a new wall-hung vanity, sculptural tub and a sense of lightness all featuring

From the designer:
This ensuite remodel was part of an entire remodel of a tired original penthouse apartment.
The existing layout comprised a shower, and built-in bath – with semi enclosing columns on each side – while a separate toilet and in the main bathroom a two-basin vanity and make up area completed the ablution spaces.
The ensuite brief was to keep the layout much the same and follow through with the new fittings and palette from the main bathroom and to introduce a large shower.
While the layout remained, as with the main bathroom, the focus was also to open the space up and increase the amount of light.
The built-in bath and its side column/walls were removed, and a free-standing bath with floor-mounted tap was installed.
A wall-hung vanity with sensor light underneath, oval mirrors and wall lights all contribute to the now fresh and light feel.
The apartment floor was solid concrete, with rooms below, so this placed certain restrictions on locating plumbed-in fittings.
While this was challenging, we were able to work around those restrictions to arrive at a functional space.
The material palette comprises grey-toned, stone-look floor tiles, rich green wall tiles, the grooved stained oak vanity, and marble-patterned, sintered stone vanity and make up top.
Chrome tapware and accessories finish the look while the untiled walls are finished in crisp Aalto Powdered Wig paint.
