Designed for our celebrity chef client, a home for entertaining with high quality finishes was a key element of the brief. The sophisticated modern cedar exterior and dark accents create an alluring street appeal which invites you to explore further. Anchored by a concrete tilt panel spine wall you are led into this expansive yet intimate home. A pared-back palette, precise attention to detail, custom-made organic fixtures and cleverly contrasting natural mediums enhance the home's warm and light aesthetic. Concrete feature walls polished to a smooth sheen are offset against cedar walls and oak cabinetry. Each bespoke feature has a story to tell; imported Turkish wall tiles, aged brass fittings, porcelain benches and hand-blown glass light fittings, to name only some. Our celebrity chefs requirement for a functional kitchen was met with expansive bench space and an oversized butler’s pantry. However this space offers more than functionality, it is the heart of the home, with high quality appliances and finishing. A bespoke double-sided concrete cast fireplace and level change is a subtle delineation that divides the living areas. The design responds to the elongated full site by stacking room placements in a functional order at both levels. All the social spaces are located on the ground floor, with open movement which flows from the street entry through to a large protected outdoor area at the rear of the property. Natural light floods the stair void. The openness is echoed by the crisp white open tread stair that leads to the upper level’s dedicated retreat sleep spaces.
