One key move can influence a bathroom design and its ambience – here it was locating the vanity basin and mirror in front of the windows

From the architects:

The challenge was to fit an ensuite bathroom into a small space.

The critical decision was to have the wash hand basin in front of the villa window which faced the street.

This allowed space for a free-standing bath at one end of the room and a shower and toilet at the other.

The free-standing wash hand basin has a tower tap at its side while a mirrored vanity cabinet supported by a stainless-steel pole rises above.

The villa window has a timber shutter for privacy and this is adjustable for light and adds texture to the room.

The wall tiles have a linen pattern chosen for texture.

To gain more light into the ensuite, the door from the walk-in wardrobe is glazed.

To keep the ensuite as spacious as possible a white shower curtain was used, and this provides a softness to the room.

The shower includes both a wall shower and a monsoon shower.

The toilet is behind the entry door and further disappears with the cistern set in the wall.

The free-standing bath has a feature light over it – a Sugar Bomb.

There are two vertical heated towel poles to drape towels over.

The ensuite is a quiet, an uncluttered retreat.
