The design was to be clean and crisp, allow for storage opportunities and future accessibility. The main challenge was that this was a renovation on a suspended concrete slab, so the design had to work within the existing ensuite space and retain existing external windows and doors. A small change to the entrance of the bedroom allowed for better connection to the ensuite and walk-in-robe. As you enter the ensuite, sitting in prime position is the feature custom-built, wall hung, double vanity. Striking black timber veneer accentuates the dark veining in the otherwise contrasting white Venatino Statuario Quartz benchtop. Over the vanity, recessed mirrored cabinets extend to the ceiling and reflect light through the space giving the room the feeling of extra height. Ample storage space is provided by the numerous vanity drawers and mirrored cabinets above. Hidden behind the vanity wall on one end is a large walk-in rain shower with a separate hand-held shower and a recessed niche to house soaps. On the opposite side is the toilet and, although it doesn’t have a door, its location allows it to remain private. At the end of the room is a freestanding bath under windows wrapping around the corner to vast ocean views beyond.Light grey floor tiles with a concrete effect provide a soft contrast to the glossy white wall tiles. Natural lighting is achieved through solar tubes while energy efficient LED downlights effectively light the space. All spaces were designed to allow for future accessibility.
