Designed by Fowler Homes Auckland South

From the group home builder:

A lifestyle home with modern features

An architecturally designed manor estate in Whitford, Auckland, sits across two levels and includes many elements of a lifestyle home.

The dwelling is ideally situated on the site, with main living areas facing North to maximise solar gain into the home.

Details

  • 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms.
  • 2 garages with workshop and garden shed.
  • Outdoor living, with spa area and lots of gardening space.
  • The total floor area of the home is 347m².

Owner brief

  • Barn style with cedar and stone elements.
  • Covered deck with spa close to living area and overlooking the creek and bush.
  • Entertainer’s kitchen and large living area.
  • Vaulted ceilings.
  • Cosy lounge.
  • Feature fire with stone to match the exterior.
  • Private master suite away from the road.
  • Guest suite with its own outdoor area.
  • 2 car and 1 car garages and large workshop.
  • Landscaped garden and planting down to the creek.
  • Integrated garden shed for storage.

Challenges that were overcome

  • Wedge shaped site sloping quickly down to a creek required retaining.
  • Pavilions angled to follow the side boundaries.
  • Clever design to make the most of the northern aspect while retaining privacy to a vacant building site next door.
  • Covered deck size was restricted due to a public drain running across the site.
An overview.
