Design by Residential Attitudes

From the designers:

With a focus on style and substance over size, the Barnhaus pays homage to the principals of Mid-Century modernism and Industrial design over today's obsession with McMansions. Brave and daring, the home has been carefully designed to ensure that every room is used every day and no space is wasted whilst creating an urban icon.

Open, spacious and inviting, the home whimsically links indoor and outdoor spaces over multiple levels. Whilst the garage is constructed of industrial concrete blockwork, the remainder of the home is light weight framing allowing an open plan ground floor free of obstructions.

'This innovative construction methodology has allowed the home to flow freely between the front yard, living areas, alfresco and pool as well as the aviary deck above.

Innovative design concepts like the combined laundry and scullery with servery to the alfresco embrace the less is more approach with rooms have multiple purposes. The upstairs lounge merges with the open deck aviary balcony suspended over the lightwell garden below linking outdoor spaces over both floors.

The Master suite overlooks the pool and garden below and includes a luxurious ensuite and his and her walk-in robes. The Jack & Jill minor bedrooms feature a shared park view balcony, bathroom and powder room.

The Scandinavian industrial aesthetic is embraced with the Colorbond monument matt wall and roof cladding with a standing seam detail. The industrial feel is matched with the polished concrete floor and concrete blocks whilst offset by the warmth of the timber cladding and retro stairwell.

The brave “pop” of colour of the floating sensation orange window boxes is paired with the feature entry door.

Innovative light weight construction, a simpler design philosophy and created to embrace its surroundings whilst reducing build times. The “Barnhaus” dared to be different and to challenge and inspire the Perth housing market.
