This renovation features complex and precision detailing concealed in spaces that are functional, comfortable and timeless.

On the street side, the Tudor-style façade has been repaired and restored, as if nothing has changed. 

However, upon entering through the front door, it's clear that this home has been completely transformed.

The original home was characterised by small, disconnected rooms, and the owners' brief was clear: to open the spaces as much as possible, creating a sense of flow and connection throughout.

And the finished result dramatically fulfils this brief. 

The staggered building line has been squared off into a single, straight line and extended, creating more space on the main floor and the levels above. 

Entering the house now, everything feels effortless and comfortable. 

The main living spaces now flow seamlessly to a new outdoor room, with pool and garden beyond.

It feels as though you could track wet footprints from the pool to the fridge or sit with a glass of wine by the outdoor fire, whether in rain or shine.

The finishes are refined and timeless, yet practical for the young family. 

The new outdoor room further extends the living space, offering a secondary area for entertaining, quiet relaxation by the fire, or gathering around the barbecue.

Extending the building line also allowed the bedrooms above to increase in size, including a more generous master suite, while the loft space has been transformed into a self-contained, spacious area.

The biggest challenge was blending the old and new – seamlessly integrating the new extension with the existing building. 

The effortless home we see today is the result of meticulous detailing and extensive problem-solving.

To support the generous open-plan space, our team collaborated closely with engineers to create a network of steel beams that not only support the floor above but also enable dramatic sliding door openings. 

These beams allow for 7.3m of uninterrupted opening on one side and 4.3m on the other. 

When open, the doors stack away, removing the boundary between inside and outside.

The existing roof had been leaking and required replacement, and the roof detailing proved complicated, particularly at the junctions where the roof tiles, louvres, and steel beams connected to the membrane. 

Each of these elements needed to be carefully integrated to ensure both functionality and aesthetics.

Extending and simplifying the building line created the opportunity to reconfigure the first floor, creating a master suite and office spaces. 

The loft, which was tightly nestled under the original roof was able to be extended into a self-contained guest suite.

The original home had undergone various renovations. 

As it was stripped back, it revealed a history of erratic wiring and damaged framing, requiring collaborative on-site solutions.

Today, the home is transformed; a harmonious blend of old and new. 

Every architectural detail, both concealed and revealed, reflects meticulous design decisions, creating a refined family home.
