Something different
A sense of luxury and escape combined with a modern, different feel were just two directives that helped shape this dramatic bathroom

From the designer:
The brief for this bathroom was to create a luxury ensuite for a married couple and craft a space to unwind from the day.
Owners' wish list
- Minimal approach to joinery with a modern feel
- Luxury ensuite
- Sanctuary-like feel
- Top-mounted double bowls and toiletry storage
- Wanted something different
- Cloudburst Concrete for the stone
Design response
The ensuite has high ceilings and large open spaces defined by different tiling and light values.
We needed the vanity to take up space and be bold – essentially, wanted to create a monolithic feel with the vanity.
By choosing to design the vanity with such simple lines, special consideration was given around the finishing and how this would elevate both the vanity and the space overall.
I clad both the top and fronts of the vanity in Cloudburst Concrete to create this look – mitred edges with push to open runners creates a seamless look, with an elevated edge.
To achieve this, I specified a push to open drawer from Hettich.
There is a fine negative detail between the top, drawer fronts and sides – and where they meet are internally mitred corners; this gives the monolithic appeal I wanted, while keeping it functional.
Double bowls and good in-drawer storage gives the couple both the ability to get ready together with plenty of space, and to create good organisation within the vanity itself.
