Pure and simple
A balanced blend of colour, shape and form gives this minimalist bathroom a contemporary yet contemplative feel
When designer Darren Grayson was instructed by his client to model a bathroom according to his own taste, the response was this relaxing, stylised space.
"I designed the entire home to include several very dynamic features including furniture, lighting, artwork and landscaping," says Grayson.
"I didn't want the bathroom to distract from this. I wanted a slick bathroom that would be understated, minimalist and monochromatic."

Grayson says that when it comes to good design, subtlety reigns supreme.
"I was after a tranquil feel rather than a loud statement. Two cantilevered vanity units are tiered to provide a simple, yet sophisticated look, with flush doors reinforcing the streamlined appearance. A laminate veneer was applied with the grain running lengthways, to elongate the look of the cabinets."
Other design elements include a sculptural freestanding tub and wall-mounted taps, which further enhance the uncluttered look.
"The mirrors extend beyond a suspended bulkhead which stops 500mm out from the wall, providing a verticality that balances the horizontal lines," he says.
