A floor-to-ceiling door ensures this powder room is seen only by its occupant and the occasional goldfish

In a residence designed with architectural flourishes and a consistent use of materials throughout, it might be easy to miss one of the spaces when walking through the interior.

This powder room, in a new house designed by architects Maria Arango and Diego Molina, may be hidden from the living areas, but it is quite open to the adjacent pond that frames its fourth side.

"The entire house has an open interaction with the outdoors and this powder room is no exception," says Arango. "The terrazzo floors, travertine walls and reflective steel that works as a mirror are all hard-wearing materials that aren't affected by the open air."

Besides the pond, and stone surfaces, the tall washstand hollowed out from a granite slab forms another feature.
