Nature soak
Relaxing in a warm bath at the end of a hard day's work has become a special treat for the owner of this bathroom
Most rooms in the home can be designed to maximise views of the outdoors, and the bathroom is no exception.
The owner of this bathroom wanted to take full advantage of its garden outlook. Thanks to a carefully designed layout she can now lie in the bath, open a set of bi-folding glass doors and look out onto the garden.
"My partner and I love having baths, especially at the weekend," she says. "Our house sits in a gully with lots of lovely trees and ferns. It's great to be able to see the garden, feel the warm breeze and listen to the sounds of native birdsong and cicadas chirping."

As well as having a bath with a view, there is a walk-in shower with a floor that is sloped to allow the water to drain away.
"We wanted the shower to be part of the room - we didn't want to shower in a box," says the owner.
The use of the same mottled grey tiles in the shower stall, floor and bath surround adds to the expansive feel of the room.
At the head of the bath is a sleek floating vanity designed by Lindon Harris, who says the owner wanted something unobtrusive that steered away from the traditional bathroom vanity.
The square basin is set in a solid oak base to match the wooden floors in the rest of the house. Back-painted glass benchtops edged with aluminium were specified to provide continuity with the kitchen countertops. Storage space is provided behind the mirror.
