This master ensuite renovation features classic design and custom details
With a brief for a master ensuite that featured classic finishes and unique elements, see how this designer used bespoke pieces to give this bathroom a timeless edge
Designed by Port + Quarter Design
From the designer:
This new bathroom is part of the complete renovation of two strata condo units. The clients' intention was to create their forever retirement home by combining both of their two-bedroom condos into one grand home.
The project saw the layouts of both floors completely overhauled, and a custom staircase created to combine the two units. In order to maximise the view, the living room on the second floor unit was turned into a master suite, complete with two walk in closets, yoga studio and master ensuite.
The master ensuite was intended to be a classic spa like retreat, finished in marble and walnut, but with modern custom design elements.
The owners wanted to create a striking ensuite that would have a timeless elegance and handsome feel.
Custom designed and fabricated ceiling mounted towel bars, full-length tile ledge and honed bluestone freestanding tub add a modern touch to a classic retreat.
The clients wanted the privacy of a separate toilet room, but didn’t want the washroom to feel closed off, so a floor to ceiling pocket door was installed between the two rooms.
Full height custom storage was added to the toilet room to both tie in the materials and provide discrete storage for linens and supplies.
The bathroom layout was designed to maximise the natural light from the window and the freestanding tub can be laid in on both ends, to take advantage of both the window view and bathroom views.
