This young family's bathroom was designed to be at one with nature
Many New Zealand homeowners aren't short on sumptuous bush outlooks. However, if this is the story with your home, how exactly do you make the most of it? Such was the central thrust of the brief for this connected-to-nature bathroom

From the designer:
This simple, yet striking bathroom was designed for a young family in their contemporary rural home.
The designer wanted to take advantage of the bush views which border the property, and this became the main focus of the brief.
Full height clear glass and aluminium louvers were used so the bush becomes the backdrop of the bathroom. The louvers are a great way to ventilate the space and bring the feeling of the outdoors within.
The freestanding stone composite bath is centred over the window to take full advantage of the view and add to the wow factor when you walk in the room.
Being the main family bathroom, a level entry tiled shower was designed to make the space feel larger and give easier access for the children.
Large marble veined 600 x 600 porcelain tiles were laid floor to ceiling for the ease of cleaning and to create a luxurious feel to this tranquil space.

American Oak was used on the wall-hung vanity to give warmth to the overall scheme and soften the contrasting colours. The oval shaped composite vanity bowl complements the shape of the bath to give continuity throughout.
LED lighting was used above and below the vanity as well as above the freestanding bath to highlight the main features of the space and create a moody ambiance in the evening. Under-floor heating was installed which keeps the tiles nice and warm during the winter months.
