All the better to bathe Spacious master bathroom by Soren Rasmussen Architects

When the architect of this house said the property would be designed to maximize the spectacular sea view from every room, he was true to his word. The master bathroom is a case in point. Both the freestanding Agape Spoon bathtub and the shower room are positioned to provide a view of the water.
Designed by architect Soren Rasmussen, the secluded waterfront house features extensive floor-to-ceiling glazing. In the master bathroom, two sets of bifolding doors open up the room to a private elevated terrace, effectively creating an outdoor bathing experience.
The bathroom continues the material palette of the rest of the house, namely raw concrete walls, Pennsylvania bluestone floor tiles and European white oak cabinets. Bluestone also features on the top of the cantilevered vanity and forms a backsplash behind each basin.

Rasmussen says the materials are a refined version of the natural materials in the environment the glazing references the transparent nature of the water, while the wood and stone have a visual connection with the surrounding forest and rocky foreshore.
River pebbles are other natural materials introduced to the bathroom. A pebble border runs around two sides of the shower room, draining the water, eliminating the need for a traditional central drain.
The shower is also defined by a semi-circular glass wall and door.

"The curved glass of the shower allows easy access to the tub beyond," says the architect. "This was the geometry that worked best with the shape of the room."
