From the designers:
Introduction
This kitchen showcases a harmonious fusion of Victorian heritage and contemporary aesthetics in a terrace house renovation.
With close attention to detail, we have crafted a kitchen that not only respects the historical charm of the front terrace but also seamlessly integrates with the modern rear addition.
Our design prioritises practicality, durability, and refinement while ensuring a seamless flow between spaces and a strong connection to nature.
Design concept
Our design concept revolves around marrying the Victorian heritage of the front terrace with the contemporary elements of the rear addition.
By juxtaposing natural stone countertops, terrazzo floors, and hardwearing materials with V-Zug energy efficient electric appliances, we have achieved a perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
Practical and timeless
The kitchen offers practicality and durability.
We selected high-quality materials such as natural stone countertops and terrazzo floors, ensuring longevity while maintaining a timeless aesthetic.
Ample storage solutions, using Blum fittings, are seamlessly integrated to maximise efficiency and minimize clutter, catering to the needs of modern living.
Seamless connection
The design emphasises a seamless connection between spaces, ensuring fluid movement between the dining room in the older part of the terrace and the sunken rear living room.
The island serves as a striking feature, resembling a custom piece of furniture that unifies the room.
Additionally, a separate breakfast bar offers panoramic views of the rear landscaped courtyard, creating an inviting space for relaxation and socialising.
Integration with nature
We prioritised bringing nature into the kitchen space – enhancing the overall ambiance, and fostering a sense of tranquillity.
Inspired by the original Victorian arch in the hallway, a curved off-form concrete skylight floods the kitchen with natural light, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere. Large windows & sliding doors with strategically placed greenery further blur the
boundaries between indoors and outdoors, the use of mirrored splashback creates and extra depth to the kitchen while also reflecting the kitchen courtyard planting allowing residents to immerse themselves in nature.
Conclusion
Our Victorian-contemporary fusion kitchen design seamlessly blends heritage and modernity that celebrates the individualistic character of the terrace house.
