One of the first contractors on any building site is the plumber. With every seepage and leak accountable to them, all work has to be done, literally, to a water-tight standard in the case of The Hub, from two basement levels up.

Planet Plumbing undertook all aspects of the plumbing fit-out for the complex. This involved the supply and installation of the storm water systems, all sewer elements below and above ground, and all the hot and cold running water. In addition, there were the fire services spanning the eight levels, from fire hydrants through to fire hose reels.

Darryl Rowntree, construction director for Planet Plumbing, says the project ran smoothly following fully documented job schedules and finish specifications by the architect and hydraulic engineer.

"Effective liaison between the hydraulic engineers, ourselves and the builders was essential to achieve a seamless installation," says Rowntree. "In fact, despite the stand-out design of The Hub, this project was very much a typical project for Planet Plumbing. There was the usual element of customisation on site, but everything was completed to brief."
