Well rounded
Contemporary and individual, The Hub Apartments complex looks different from every aspect and offers an equally diverse range of living options
In keeping with the structure's clean, modern lines, the paintwork covering much of The Hub is in neutral, contemporary tones. However, splashes of colour are also used to good effect, both on the multi-faceted facade and in the individual apartments.
D & L Taylor Painting undertook all aspects of paintwork and provided some valuable advice to the specifiers along the way, says owner David Taylor.
"The apartment interiors feature a new product, a party wall system from QLD Internal Linings," says Taylor. "While much of the paintwork was standard for the project, we spent some time on test sheets to achieve the right finish for this new system. It was important to select a paint that would seamlessly cover the joining on these substrate linings."
Taylor says Taubmans Living Proof was eventually suggested to the client and that Cornerstone went with the company's informed recommendation.
"The interiors were finished in a neutral off-white hue, with feature walls in some apartments painted in a dark chocolate," he says. "Again, the exact choice here was crucial, with the dark tones easily picking up even the tiniest blemish in the wall surface."
On the outside, Taubmans Armawall was selected as a textured coating that would produce a flat, matt finish over the concrete render. The steelwork, a feature of the design, stands out in a contrasting red.
D & L Taylor Painting had 15 skilled tradespeople on site for six months to ensure the job was completed on time and to the satisfaction of all concerned.
