The coastal theme extends to the interior, where casual, beachside colours and textures are paired with high-end finishes and appliances.
In the open-plan kitchens, Quartz-based Q Stone benchtops have fragments of seashells embedded in them. Details such as the colour-back glass splashbacks complement the homes' contemporary design. The master bathrooms incorporate an open bathing area, and the showers feature 180mm rain showerheads and recesses finished with marble pebble tiles.
The apartments have a fully ducted air conditioning system, recessed low-voltage lighting and a security system with intercom and card access. Appliances include Miele stainless steel appliances in the kitchens and front-loading Bosch washing machines and dryers in the laundries. Secure parking for two cars is also standard, with three spaces for the penthouses.
In Cedar Woods' Landings development at Mariners Cove in Mandurah, shown above, architectural firm Donaldson and Warn has designed 20 two-storey townhouses with private jetties overlooking the canal.
To increase the level of street-front activation, each property has two balconies, one facing the street and one facing the canal, says Cedar Woods' development manager Ken Haustead. The other key architectural feature is the partially covered central courtyard adjoining the living areas and surrounded by full-height glass.
"The courtyards bring large amounts of natural light into the home, provide a private space sheltered from the elements, and enhance the natural flow of air through the homes," says Haustead.
