New lightweight steel roofing options with the distinctive look of naturally weathered shingle or Mediterranean-style clay tiles are from Metrotile

The popular Mediterranean look is re-created with a lightweight option, MetroRoman, which is available in a choice of colours.

Today, improvements in manufacturing methods and technological developments increasingly mean that appearances can prove to be deceptive.

Most often, this is to our advantage. Complete metal tile roofing systems from Metrotile are an example of this. Manufactured in New Zealand using a Zincalume steel base under a natural stone chip protective coating, these tiles are a lightweight, strong and affordable roofing system.

Metrotile has recently introduced MetroShingle and MetroRoman, two new ranges that provide homeowners with an upmarket option.

MetroShingle, used to re-roof this older-style home, this backyard, cottage, elevation, estate, facade, farmhouse, home, house, outdoor structure, porch, property, real estate, residential area, roof, siding, white, gray
MetroShingle, used to re-roof this older-style home, this product is available in seven weathered tones.

National sales manager for Metrotile Harry Boxall says MetroRoman has the appearance of a Mediterranean tiled roof, but without the weight.

"This makes it ideal for new homes or renovations where the original structure was not designed for concrete tiles."

MetroShingle re-creates the look of flat asphalt shingles, and suits modern homes and older bungalows, and a wide variety of roofing designs. A double-drop coating system re-creates the subtle colourings of slightly weathered tiles for a shingle appearance. As with all Metrotiles, these new styles are lightweight at 60kg/10m², offering savings on construction. They carry a 50-year warranty and are designed to resist fire, high winds and earthquakes.

The MetroShingle roof on this rural property was cottage, elevation, estate, farmhouse, home, house, land lot, landscape, outdoor structure, property, real estate, residential area, roof, siding, suburb, gray
The MetroShingle roof on this rural property was installed by Ross Roofing.
