Lot 1 Design wins 2025 TIDA Australia Designer Kitchen of the Year
Congratulations to Tammy Miconi of Lot 1 Design, winner of the 2025 TIDA Australia Designer Kitchen of the Year – a new take on a country kitchen
Originally a stable on a rural NSW homestead property this property has been reimagined into a self-contained guest house for family and friends, with a particular focus on creating a highly functional and delightful kitchen.
The challenge was to work within the existing structure, preserving its external character, while transforming the interior to meet the needs of modern living.
The design responds to the brief by blending contemporary country aesthetics with a minimalist and efficient layout.
The kitchen connects with the surrounding natural environment, overlooking the garden, and ensuring the act of cooking remains in harmony with the tranquil landscape.
A seamless integration of full-height fridge, appliance storage, and pantry along the rear wall adds to the sense of spaciousness, mimicking the appearance of a standalone joinery unit, while maintaining a clean and uncluttered aesthetic.
The freestanding island bench, with its hand-made ceramic glazed tiles, painted timber, and raw brass-capped shelving, acts as both a functional workspace and an architectural focal point.
The TIDA judges were drawn to the refined approach of the design and the way it skillfully combines the essence of what makes a country kitchen with a more clean-cut contemporary sensibility.
