Style and substance
Functionality and form are equal frontrunners when it comes to modern interior design

So much of what constitutes as fashionable comes down to looks, while practicality or functionality gets passed over. That's why when a product doesn't sacrifice one for the other it makes people stand up and take notice.
Established norms for what makes good design are continually being tested through the incorporation of non-traditional materials and by drawing inspiration from a variety of sources.
For example, you may wonder what the high-octane world of Formula 1 racing has in common with bathroom fixtures?
The answer is personified in the F1 range of faucets designed for Grohe by FA Porsche. The F1 range has sleek lines, distinctive shapes, and a polished finish that are evocative of the components of a Formula 1 race car.
Similar to a high-powered machine, the simplicity of the design belies what lies beneath, says Grohe North American chief marketing officer Michelle Healy.
"To accommodate the FA Porsche design, Grohe's engineers developed a mechanism that features a clockwork-type geared movement combined with Grohe Silk Move® ceramic disks, which provide particularly smooth, long-life operation."
The disks allow the sliding lever controls to glide horizontally, making them effortless to use.
The F1 range was designed to reflect modern interior design, which is what first attracted LCOR senior vice president David Sigman.
"We wanted a range of products that complemented the interior design of The Charleston condominium residences, and the Grohe F1 range was just what we were looking for."
