A close working relationship between Mulherin Rigging and Cranes and the steel fabricator ensured the structural steel in the roof and walls was erected successfully.

Mulherin Rigging and Cranes was given the contract to erect the roof steel. This consisted of a counter lever overhang and the installation of the structural steel in the glazed facade, as well as the installation of the pre-cast panels around the bottom of the structure, all to within 5mm of tolerance.

Mulherin Rigging and Cranes project supervisors Chris Van-der Laan and Gary Castle say the success of the project was directly related to the company's ability to work in with the other contractors. This ensured each stage went up on schedule and prevented interference with other trades.

"With only one crane available on the project, timing was crucial. One of the reasons Mulherin Rigging and Cranes was awarded this contract was because of its reputation in the industry for precision work. Price plays a part on projects such as these, but reliability, quality and precision of workmanship, along with the ability to co-operate effectively with other contractors, are all vital. A project with our name on it will clearly be of high quality in all aspects," they say.
