Sound and vision
This kitchen deftly balances a sculptural presence with sound functionality – form, materiality, and subtle detailing are all on show while integrated appliances and a discreet pantry all keep their head down
Designed by Marcus Stufkens, Stufkens+Chambers Architects
From the architect:
The kitchen is the heart of this home, a sculptural and functional space that seamlessly integrates with the surrounding living and dining areas.
Designed to evoke a sense of warmth and connection, it features a striking Rugged Concrete engineered stone bench and splashback, grounding the space with its tactile presence.
The cabinetry, finished in Green Slate, reinforces the Golden Elm tree narrative that flows throughout the home, creating a sense of continuity and organic cohesion.
A discreet pantry keeps everyday essentials tucked away, allowing the clean-lined joinery to remain uninterrupted.
Horizontal recesses replace traditional handles, maintaining a sleek aesthetic while incorporating brushed brass detailing that subtly enhances the materiality.
Integrated appliances preserve the refined composition, ensuring that functionality never competes with the home's serene ambiance.
Overhead, a ceiling detail introduces a recessed strip with a matte black surface, featuring black and gold reflector task lighting.
This refined element extends into the living space, where exposed timber joists celebrate structural integrity and craftsmanship.
Behind pre-finished Birch ply panels, hidden LED lighting provides a soft glow, subtly enhancing the warmth and depth of the interiors.
Beyond the kitchen, the home embraces a harmonious blend of textures and natural finishes.
