It replaces an existing kitchen that was tired, small, dark and unfunctional. The new design incorporates personalised touches that reflect the homeowner's lifestyle – including lighting, oversized windows and mirrors to let in and reflect natural light, custom cabinetry, innovative storage solutions & high-end appliances tailored to specific culinary needs. Individualistic details and materials such as American Oak panels and battens were stained Japan Black; cabinetry handles were routed into the panels; and 12mm Staron “Cotton white” was used to emphasise the thin benchtop profile and encase the rangehood. The harmonious colour palette sets the ambience through the contrast of the warmth in the travertine flooring, the dark stained timber and the white benchtops. Staron was the perfect choice for this project because we were able to achieve a seamless 4m long island benchtop with a 12mm thin edge profile. The 'Cotton White' selection worked well with the crisp white background and subtle veining through it. Staron was also used to clad the rangehood structure which allowed our design to incorporate minimal material selections and carry through the integrity of the benchtop material onto another visual plane.Considered lighting design was important to this space. The ceiling recessed black linear light fittings accentuate the galley style of kitchen and the enormity of the centrally located 4m long island bench. Ultimately, this bespoke kitchen design balances aesthetics with functionality, ensuring it is the heart of the home and is ideally suited to the homeowners' tastes and needs.
