Pillar of wisdom
A fluted feature element negotiates the stepped nature of this contemporary, colourful and function-rich kitchen, complete with laundry
Designed by Candice Van Dyk, Mooi Design
From the designer:
Our modern kitchen design seamlessly blends functionality and style, with a focus on creating a fluid transition from the kitchen to the living area.
Embracing curves, the design ensures an easy flow between spaces, enhancing the overall sense of openness and connectivity.

The challenge of the split-level floor was met with innovative solutions, including a fluted pillar that elegantly connects the different heights while serving as a focal point that ties the kitchen and living areas together.
Incorporating the colours Bayleaf and Classic Oak, the design strikes a balance between modern sophistication and a touch of playfulness, perfect for the young family it serves.
The use of engineered stone with a subtle vein adds visual interest without overshadowing the unique design elements.
Functionality is paramount, with features such as a double sink, instant hot tap, double ovens, and a 900mm cooktop seamlessly integrated into the design.
Additionally, the inclusion of a laundry area within the cabinetry ensures practicality and efficiency, further enhancing the kitchen's functionality while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic.
A special mention to Grace Dear from MKS who provided the joinery drawings for this design – they did a great job.
