New generation
With its sleek aesthetics and numerous sustainable design features, this house from NZ Built highlights the home of the future
By their very nature, design trends are fleeting and this applies just as much to architecture as it does to fashion. But there is one current trend that is not going to date, and that is the move towards more sustainable buildings.
It's an approach that helped determine the design and materials used in this new house built by NZ Built. And one of the key features is the eco-friendly Palliside cladding.
NZ Built director Paul Belcher says Palliside weatherboards in Riverstone Traditional profile were specified for both their sustainable features and aesthetics.
"We particularly like the fact that Palliside is manufactured locally, and is maintenance free it never needs painting," he says. "Over the life of the product, this makes it a very eco-friendly choice. We also appreciate its traditional weatherboard look, and the concealed fixings."
Belcher says Palliside's ISO14001 accreditation was another factor. This standard acknowledges the manufacturer's commitment to reducing its impact on the environment.
Palliside is a solid weatherboard made from 100% recyclable materials. The boards have a foamed cellular core and a UV-resistant top coat, which is impervious to denting and chipping. Manufactured to withstand New Zealand's climate extremes and coastal conditions, the weatherboards have an interlocking design with hidden nailing, which prevents moisture getting behind the boards. This helps ensure they won't rot, warp or peel.
The cladding has been independently tested, is BRANZ appraised and, for further peace of mind, comes with a 25-year guarantee.
