Security is a key concern in most commercial developments today. Having a large staff and substantial investments in computers and electronic equipment, most companies need control over movement in and around their offices.

Integrated Security Service, a privately owned company, has designed and installed the security systems for the Trends Centre.

The Tecom Challenger Access Control and Alarm System provides for various levels of access into this multi-use building, catering for the needs of both apartment owners and visitors to the residential levels of the building, and for staff working in offices on other levels.

Mike Dreaneen of Integrated Security Service says the system is designed to protect access to the building, restricting it to authorised users at selected times, while at the same time ensuring free egress in an emergency, thereby meeting building codes.

"This system is fully interfaced and compatible with specified intruder detection, remote monitoring, vehicle control and fire alarm systems," he says.

Trends operations manager Kirsty Johnson says a big advantage of this system is that it allows her to manage and monitor many aspects regarding the security of staff and the building, such as the issuing of access cards.
