Some outdoor bathing facilities allow you to enjoy a shower in the open air, while others let you soak in a tub under the stars. It is less common to find both of these options in a single pristine, private setting.

This well-appointed bathroom, by designer Anne Levitch, offers a complete alfresco bathing experience. Only a few steps from the master bathroom and dressing room and enclosed by a high fence, the outdoor space is totally private.

"We undertook the whole-house project and the plan was always to have a traditional oval tub outside, perhaps one with claw feet," says Levitch. "However, the owner discovered this one-piece tub and shower element and it is well suited to the space. The tub's oval form ties back to oval vanities found in the main bathroom and powder room of the house."

The combination provides a practical, no-fuss solution for the owners, with all plumbing encased in the shower's upright element. Sandstone paving ties in with the beige tub and feels comfortable underfoot.
