flashman design
Andrew Flashman
For this project, the clients asked designer Andrew Flashman to update the kitchen and family area in their beachfront home. They wanted a contemporary but comfortable feel, and a light look but without using white.
"In response, I redesigned the kitchen and surrounding living areas using a mix of cool-colored limestone, glass, wood tones, soft lacquers, and stainless steel," says Flashman. "These materials reflect the beach locale and keep the space airy. The design accentuates a horizontal plane to add visual size this was achieved with integrated cabinet handles, stainless toekicks and ridged chandeliers."
A long central island replaces a tired peninsula version, and gives the desired modern look.
"The island is now the centerpiece, with plenty of seating and a prep area. The remodeled kitchen has a single 30in oven and warming drawer with an integrated matching microwave."
