From the designers:

Owners' brief:

As avid foodies, our homeowners called for a luxurious kitchen that would support their adventurous culinary skills and a busy lifestyle.

A well-configured, orderly space was important.

While functionality was king, so too was a feeling of grandeur and a bold departure from their old-fashioned former kitchen.

The owners were embarking on a major renovation across the home, so they wanted something that would stand the test of time, yet be eye-catching and refined.

The design hallmarks of a French-provincial kitchen appealed.

Project description:

In a design sense, the owners are delighted with the kitchen.

Visually, it rests beautifully with the wider renovation being both classic and thoughtful.

The owners appreciate the grand scale of the cabinetry within the room, supported by open shelving to create a feeling of lightness.

Beautiful pendants grace the island while bench seats provide for social times at the island's breakfast bar.

Shaker-style cabinetry provides a statement of strength and quality, and demonstrates the technical difficulty of the workmanship.

Marble benchtops flowing into a splashback allows for an inviting and reflective space. The heavy use of marble promotes luxury and sturdiness, while looking great against the ornate cabinetry.

Design flair is not at the expense of functionality. A spacious scullery offers an additional workspace, with open shelving for ‘easy to grab’ ingredients and utilities.

Subway tiles, extensive drawers and benchtops, plus beautiful lighting, completes the sculler’s picture of a practical supporting act to the main kitchen.

Open shelving behind glass cabinetry allows for coveted displays of glass bottles and pretty things – highlighted with directional spotlights.

The chunky timber shelves break up a minimalist colour palette and allow leafy botanicals to pop against a white backdrop. The pendant lighting above the large island is a mainstay with provincial styling.

No wonder guests say oh là là!

Separated by a pocket slider, the scullery is a continuation of the main kitchen  in visual terms – thanks in part to a continuation of the kitchen's classic, panelled cabinetry into the ancillary workspace.
