SCL supplied and placed all of the in situ concrete works and formwork, and placed the precast concrete components.
The success of a large design-and-build project is invariably the result of teamwork, with every subcontractor playing an important role to achieve a successful outcome. For the Air New Zealand project, Hawkins Construction subcontracted the construction of the concrete structures to Scarbro Construction Ltd (SCL).
Director Garry Scarborough says SCL supplied and placed all of the in situ concrete works and formwork, and placed the precast concrete components.
"SCL has worked with Hawkins Construction on a number of other projects and established a working relationship that contributed towards the success of this landmark project," Scarborough says.
Since it was established in 1996, SCL has experienced substantial growth and has a track record of successful projects ranging from fit-outs, residential & commercial buildings, to large scale concrete structures and apartment buildings.
"Our objective is to continue to build a mixture of both large and small projects, to avoid being pigeon-holed as specialists in one sector of the industry," says Scarborough. "This is also a way to ensure we utilise the varying skills of our team."
Scarborough says the company has a philosophy of employing its own workforce as opposed to contract staff, and today Scarbro has an experienced team of more than 60 permanent staff.
SCL not only undertakes subcontracting work the company has also worked as head contractor on a number of recent projects, including Microsoft House.
