Face of change
Contemporary, versatile desking solutions were supplied for the project by Unifor Australia
With a strong focus on staff comfort alongside productivity, Electrolux introduced eco-friendly, ergonomic desking for the integrated fit-out.
Unifor Australia supplied and installed the lightweight, versatile Unifor MDL workstation system in the new head office. Unifor sales manager Alex Walter explains the process that led to the choice of the chic, Italian-designed workstations.
"The history of our involvement on this project is interesting, because we were not in contention early on," says Walter. "However, the final stages of decision making for the project coincided with Unifor conducting cost exercises combining MDL components with components from some of our other systems some first designed 20 years ago and still going strong.
"All our workstation systems are compatible, but the cost exercises we undertook even surprised us. The reaction from Electrolux was positive, and Unifor was awarded the contract to supply the workstations. There are work settings for approximately 190 staff in place."
Besides a customised design and affordability, the client also had an ecological focus. Another positive aspect of MDL is that little of the Italian-designed hardware actually had to come from Italy.
"Approximately 70% of the materials were locally manufactured or sourced, and all would achieve a 6-Star Green Star rating under the criteria established by the Green Building Council of Australia," Walter says.
