Dark colours to suit his taste meets classic and elegant touches to suit her taste – this kitchen is a meeting of the predilections of its owners

Designed by Luciana Borges, Borges Design

From the kitchen designer:

This is a new kitchen design for a young and busy family of five looking at revamping the layout and style in their newly purchased property to suit their lifestyle.

The brief was to revamp the layout, modernising it and creating a better flow to suit their busy family life as well as their social gatherings.

In response, the kitchen has an edgy and playful style working with dark colours to suit the husband's taste while at the same time incorporating a more classic and elegant touch preferred by the lady in the house.

Requested features included:

  • A separate zone where the children could have their breakfast in the morning without crowding the kitchen area
  • An entertainers wine fridge
  • An ice maker
  • Storage and an area where we could display their gyn collection

The materials and finishes selected are a reflection of the couples' taste and different design ideas – modern and edgy while still displaying a soft and comfortable feel.

The new layout, which creates different zones for the cook and for the entertainer provides enough space for all working around.
