Burnished ablutions
Choice of tile on floors and walls ups the design ante on this bathroom, creating an earthy theme that connects to the forest area outside
Designed by E J Building
From the designer:
Owners requests:
- The owners live in a house surrounded by native bush – they wanted a bathroom that connected in with the house and surroundings.

What we achieved:
- Brown tones were used for the tiles and vanity, creating an earthy theme that connected the bathroom and the forest area outside.
- Copper tapware was used as it complements the brown, copper-look tiles and again went well with the earthy tones used in the rest of the bathroom.
- LED strip lights were added under the vanity and recessed shelves – these were on sensors that turned the lights on, on entry to the bathroom.
- We used a low iron shower glass to ensure clarity
Issues encountered:
- Access to the property was an issue and all of the tools and bathroomware had to be transported to the property in smaller vehicles that could fit down the drive.
