Inspired by the buildings of a pretty town in France, porcelain stoneware can add distinction to interiors of any style
In the little town of Buxy, southeast France, tourists flock to view the historic buildings made from the local calcareous stone. Its distinctive pattern and creamy-coloured hues attract visitors from around the world.
By matching the aesthetic qualities of stone with the hard-wearing properties of vitrified porcelain, Italian engineers have created a stoneware called Buxy.
Available from Rocks On Hard Surface Solutions, Buxy comes in four natural shades with an indoor and outdoor finish.
Its faithful reproduction of calcareous stone is achieved by the use of coloured salts, which penetrate into the tile body to settle the pattern.
Large slab sizes allow the material to be used for all applications where you would use stone slabs, such as staircases, floors and walls. Buxy can be installed inside and outdoors in a range of areas, including foyers, boutiques, galleries, living areas, kitchens and patios.
Edge details and laminations are also available for customised installations.
It has a 20-year guarantee for all commercial and domestic applications and there is no need for sealing because of its surface hardness. In addition, Buxy is water-resistant, stain resistant and graffiti proof.
