The impact of this small, but crucial, decision was to set them free to design a fireplace built into a glass wall. To create this, a piece with a base and top of polished stainless steel was encased in glass, providing a framework for the row of flames rising from the hearth.

Because it is transparent, it doesn't detract from its surroundings. Aesthetically, the fireplace from Bloch Design can be admired from the family room and the living room, yet it also ensures each space has some privacy. The glass wall gives this space, in an historic Depression-era building, a spark of the 21st century, which the owner wanted.
