A sound plan
Automation technology allows homeowners to enjoy sight, sound and control systems Strawberry Sound pushes all the right buttons

Automation has transformed our living spaces as remote control has moved far beyond turning on the television.
With room automation it is possible to integrate sound, visual and control systems. Push a button and you can watch a screen descend from the ceiling, the lights dim, and the curtains close before a DVD plays, says Aaron Boyce, sales and design manager for Strawberry Sound.
"Pretty much if you can imagine it, it can be automated," Boyce says.
Strawberry Sound can create and install an automation system to save energy and control a house's environment. For example, power costs can be reduced by turning heating and cooling systems on and off while the residents are at work. You can send a text before driving home to turn up the heat, Boyce says.
Other systems can be automated as well. For a homeowner who was uncomfortable returning to a dark house, Strawberry Sound designed and installed a plan which turned on the lights when the security gate opened.
Strawberry Sound has custom designedsystems for houses New Zealand-wide including those for the NZ Supreme House of the Year 2007.
