As one of the most visible surfaces in your kitchen, splashbacks can seriously effect the space's design. These 4 splashbacks have a major impact on the overall look of their respective kitchens.

As well as being important for protecting your kitchen walls, splashbacks are generally the area where you can have more fun and be experimental.

Here are 4 examples of splashbacks that reflect or even enhance their kitchens' respective design styles.

Moody blues

The designer of this kitchen wanted this space to be dark, moody and a little bit theatrical, and the splashback tiles create a touch of drama.

The home's location beside the water influenced the design of this house and its kitchen. The hand-glazed splashback tiles in varying shades of inky blue reflect the light and water from the nearby estuary. The varying tones create a lovely ripple effect.

High-tech showstopper

A splashback's primary role may be to protect the wall surface, but equally it presents a blank canvas on which to make a statement and add a little bit of excitement.

These LED-lit backsplashes can extend the space's colour theme, offer adjustable mood lighting, and can be turned right down to create a beautiful, ambient night light.

Modern classic

This new kitchen in a traditional home required a balance between relaxed, cosy warmth and contemporary functionality. To achieve this, the designer opted for a restricted colour palette balanced by an emphasis on texture.

On this design, white undulating tiles on the splashback add brightness and texture.

Town and country

For this renovation project, the owners asked for an updated gourmet kitchen. In response, the designer went for the classic country look to achieve a casual, relaxed aesthetic.

The Carrara marble splashback cascades down to the countertop in the same stone. This helps to bring personality to the design, as well as visual continuity.
