1. Take care of the little things

If you have odd jobs around the house that you have been putting off all year, now is the perfect time to get those under control.

The winter hibernation months are an ideal time to get stuck into those little tasks that would usually make you break a sweat. Fix that broken lightbulb, paint that lonesome skirting board, and rearrange your kitchen‘s pantry to make sure everything is in order and has its own place.

We all get into the habit of throwing everything in the pantry after the tedious grocery shopping task is done. Well, now is the perfect time to break that habit! This will not only leave your kitchen looking clean and organised but will also leave your mind clearer for your next trip to the grocery store.

These small tasks can be tedious, but you will thank yourself in the upcoming spring months when you can relax in the warm sun knowing those endless bits and pieces are finally completed.

2. Its time to declutter

There is no better time than the winter months to get stuck into that decluttering process. This is your opportunity to do a personal audit on all of the items in your home, and to get rid of the items you no longer have use for.

Be sure to start slow with this process, as it is time-consuming. Remember you have at least two months of winter hibernation so there is no need to rush this process. Take your time and be thorough.

Start with a bookcase, a shelf, a single cupboard, then move toward those heavy-duty storage compartments you’ve been cramming goods in for years.

Not only will this clean out allow for more storage space in the future but will also create a greater awareness of where your possessions are in your home. We promise you’ll never lose your keys again!

3. Take a close look at your bathroom

Let’s be honest, has that gunk that you have been putting off for months gotten to a scary stage? Don’t worry, you are not alone!

Take time this winter to give your bathroom the scrub down it deserves. Clean the grout, and wash down all of the tiles. These are small steps to take to leave your bathroom sparkling and fresh for the upcoming spring months.

Updates like replacing the faucet are easily done with the help of a quick trip to Bunnings and your simple household tools. Always make sure to include a scented candle or small vase of fresh flowers in your bathroom to give it that added layer of coziness.
