When you build with Fowler Homes, you work directly with the owners and their project management teams – here is a general guide on what to expect

At Fowler Homes we focus on design and build. 

We understand that building your dream home is a monumental experience. 

From the first conversation through to handing over the keys to your new home, we want you to have the best experience possible throughout the home building process.

Here is a general guide on what to expect.

The Fowler Homes building process

Client meeting – the exciting first step

First up, potential home owners will chat with a friendly Fowler Homes manager about your section, your budget and wish list.

If you have plans of your own, this is the time to discuss them.

This is a great time to ask any questions that you may have about the Fowler Homes building process, or even just building in general.

A site visit will also be arranged to view your section.


Architectural plans – finalising your footprint

Fowler Homes has an in-house architectural design team who will draft an initial concept plan for you – based upon discussions in your initial meeting. 

This gives you a chance to assess and make any changes before proceeding further through the design process.

Next Fowler Homes creates more detailed plans and working drawings – allowing your build contract to be accurately priced and to inform the building consent process.

Select fittings and finishes – in the details

This is a fun part of your journey where you make all selections for your new home from Fowler Homes' extensive range of product suppliers. 

The company's show rooms and show homes contain a large range of samples and information on the different options available.

Contract signing 

Once you have confirmed the plan for your new home and selected your fittings and finishes, our suppliers provide us with full quotes that are specific to your build. This allows us to provide you with an accurately priced build contract.

A detailed Master Build contract will be drafted which outlines the total price of your build, and how the payments will be staged throughout your new home build.

Getting underway – from scheme to reality

Your build will progress through defined stages and your Fowler Homes team will keep you regularly updated along the way.

Typical stages progress as follows:

  • Earthworks and site preparation
  • Foundations
  • Wall and roof framing
  • Roof installation
  • Exterior doors and windows
  • Plumbing, electrical and insulation
  • Interior and exterior linings and finishes
  • Kitchens, bathrooms, hardware and tiling
  • Driveways, hard and soft landscaping

Handover – that welcome red letter day

By this stage, your home has been carefully managed through all stages of the building process and you can see your vision become a reality.

Before you make your final payment and the house is handed over, we will take you for a thorough walk-through of your new home to ensure that you are completely satisfied with the finished product.
