When a designer or an architect finds a product that measures up to their aesthetic and functional requirements, it makes sense that they would want to specify it again and again.

Some products don't just satisfy design needs, they also contribute to the winning of industry awards.

This was the case for Shane George who recently won the NKBA Kitchen Designer of the Year Award for the clean-lined family kitchen pictured above.

With its modern neutral palette of white, silver and grey, offset by warm jarrah floors, the kitchen features cabinetry finished in a semi-gloss Ameron two-pack system.

George says he chose a 50% gloss to tie in with other finishes in the kitchen, such as the frosted glass cabinet doors, the aluminium rail handles and a brushed silver melamine finish in the walk-in pantry.

George's winning design was not the first time he has used Ameron products.

"The extensive range and high level of finishes, as well as the company's efficient colour-matching service are all reasons I use Ameron coating products," he says.

Mal Corboy CKDNZ from Intrigue Kitchen Design is also an award-winning designer who regularly uses Ameron products. Corboy recently won the Kings IV Generation award at the annual NKBA awards.

His winning design features cabinetry finished in Ameron enamel. The satin finish in Livid Brown contrasts with the Quarrella Blanco Paloma benchtops and sandstone tile floor to give this kitchen a bold, sophisticated feel.

Another Corboy design, the light, spacious kitchen shown above, features cabinetry with a ¼ Lemongrass lacquer finish. In contrast with the dark-stained floor, the pale joinery appears to float.

Ameron Coatings' colour palette contains more than 40,000 shades. Its latest colour innovations include lustrous pearl shades, metallics and the iridescent Glittercoat range. The finishes available range from sleek high gloss to low-sheen naturals.

Ameron coating products are applied by approved applicators to achieve a high-level finish that is not only visually appealing, but highly durable.
